Our story

Hello, I'm Nicky and I started Angel & Dove in 2016. I haven't always wanted to work in the funeral business but life has a funny way of leading you in all sorts of directions that you never would have expected.

In 2013 I was diagnosed with cancer out of the blue and had to take an enforced 'year out' to have surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy (easier said than done when you have a 7 year old and a 2 year old still in nappies!). During my treatment I made some wonderful friends - some of whom are sadly no longer with us and others who are still fighting the battle. I was fortunate to be given the all clear following my treatment, and as my hair grew back and life slowly returned to a new normality, I decided I wanted to do something more meaningful with my time.

Having lost some close friends, I became increasingly passionate about end of life care and the concept of 'a good death' and felt I wanted to give something back in some way. In 2015 I became a volunteer in the Bereavement Support team at The Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, and then chanced upon a wonderful young, innovative, female-led funeral directors in South London called Poppy's Funerals who I started working for part-time. I can honestly say that it was one of the most rewarding, moving and humbling jobs I have ever had.

At the funerals I worked at, I increasingly saw that families wanted to celebrate the life of their loved one in a way that was meaningful to them, and the amazing team at Poppy's are passionate about enabling this to happen. However, this is not the norm, and all too often families are presented with a bland, generic 'package' which leaves little room for creative expression or individuality.

At Angel & Dove we aim to create products that enable families to celebrate and remember their loved one in a way that feels right for them. Whether it's by displaying balloons in their favourite colour, or by creating a memory table where guests can gather to share memories and stories that can be passed on to future generations... we've created a collection of thoughtful items to help make the saddest of occasions beautiful, personal and memorable.

I hope you will find something that will help to make your celebration of life, remembrance service or funeral special for you, your family and friends.

With warmest wishes,
Nicky x
